New gift card expiry rules took effect from 16 March requiring gift cards to carry an expiry date of 3 years from the date of sale. This includes gift cards redeemed in loyalty programs where points are used for redemption. Gift cards automatically issued through loyalty programs after reaching a loyalty spend threshold are excluded.
