SkyCity Entertainment Group is appealing a tax decision (which could cost it NZ$33 million) about the treatment of its loyalty points. SkyCity believes reward points should not be counted as part of the revenue on which it is taxed. The state government disagreed as reward points can be used to gamble. The High Court had granted it special leave to appeal the matter.
