Velocity’s 12 million members contributed the bulk of Virgin’s growth in earnings in the year to June. Velocity’s now focused on driving more engagement and getting members active. The airline’s underlying earnings before interest and tax rose to $519 million, with revenues up by 6.8 per cent to $5.4 billion. Virgin's Velocity Frequent Flyer program accounted for the biggest increase in underlying earnings, with revenues rising 23.8%.
